Proverbs 8:12

Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)
I, Wisdom, dwell with prudence,
and find out knowledge of witty inventions.
When I was growing up, my momma always told me it was ok to talk to myself as long as I didn't start answering.  Well, as a full-fledged member of the Walter Mitty society, I must confess that I not only talk to myself AND answer myself, I have entire crowded conversations with myself… often, dare I say, out loud and fully animated.

While my children find this alarming and my husband has taken 20 years to figure out that I'm not talking to him, I have come to the conclusion that this outlet of self expression is not only entirely necessary, it's downright useful.  The embarrassment it causes my children is just a nice added perk.

What's useful about it, you say?  Pondering is a way of opening myself to the Holy Spirit.  Of exploring my understanding of life and scripture. Of dreaming for the future.  And very often, of hearing the witty inventions of God.

So, the next time you see me driving down the road in very animated conversation with no one, just know that I am fully aware of how ridiculous I look to those who can't see inside my head.  But there are angels in there.  And dreams.  And visions. And sometimes… just sometimes… those voices in my head come up with some pretty good ideas!
